A Legendary Taste of the Napa Valley
Set amid a historic wine country estate at the base of the Mayacamas Mountain Range, AXR embodies the past, present, and future of the Napa Valley. Offering everything from mysterious and compelling Cabernets to beautifully intriguing Chardonnays, AXR’s meticulous winemaking methods artfully express Napa’s unique terroir.
Named after the bygone Aramond x Rupestris rootstock that was once prominent in building the California wine industry, AXR pays homage to the history of the Napa Valley while simultaneously forging a trail of innovation in the region. The AXR estate, rooted in the lore of Native American hunting grounds, wild west pioneers, and the first woman vintner in 1886, embraces its imaginative backdrop as a site steeped in over 134 years of rich history. With myriad tales of love, lust, heartbreak, and fortune, AXR offers plenty to discuss over a glass or bottle of exquisite red or white.
What began with four friends and a dream has since evolved into one of the most beloved institutions in California wine country. Today, AXR founders Kelly Travethan, Mark Schratz, Don Van Laeken, and consulting winemaker Jean Hoefliger—otherwise known as the FAB 4—remain dedicated to bringing the soul of the Napa Valley soil into wines that can be enjoyed now, or savored for many years to come.
